We believe that early socialization is necessary to help our dogs respond in a healthy and acceptable manner to unfamiliar people, animals, places and things that they may encounter during their lives. We also believe that socialization should not end with puppy hood. While the foundation for good behavior is laid during the first few months of a puppy's life, responsible owners positively reinforce their dog's social skills throughout their dog's entire lifetime. Play exercises keep dogs healthier both mentally and physically and also strengthens the bond between the pet and pet guardian. Additional benefits also include muscle toning, cardiovascular strengthening, stress reduction and the alleviation of boredom.
FREE Training Classes
Our FREE Training Classes are available to EVERY active Member of Le Petit Chien ..... the small dog! Our Goal is "To help every Dog become a Valued Member of their Family." We hope to accomplish this by educating "Pet Guardians" on training methods to help their dogs understand what is expected of them. We teach "Positive Reinforcement" in our Training Classes. The inclusion of Clicker Training as method of communication and reinforcement will also be reviewed along with "Reward Based" philosophies. Basic Agility, nature walks and other forms of recreation round out our curriculum.
Our Position On Breeding
Our organization supports rescue, promotes education and the responsibility to spay and neuter our pets. It is our wish to never add to the overpopulation of dogs through irresponsible breeding practices. Therefore, we do not condone the breeding of pets, believing it is wiser to leave breeding to those people who only breed with the aim of maintaining or improving the qualities of their breed as set forth in the AKC Standard. We also discourage the purchase of pets from pet shops and backyard breeders, as these puppies are a product of inhumane and poor breeding practices.
Many of our Members are actively involved in Dog Rescue, Fostering and Adoption Referral. If you are looking to add a new Canine Member to your family or would like assistance in finding a "Furever Home" for a pet, you may contact any of our Adoption / Rescue Liaisons for assistance.
