What is being talked about? In order to make good decisions in product development, it is critical to understand how value flows through your product or service. Modeling the various stakeholders, their relationships, and how they experience and contribute to the value flows in your product will give you a significant edge in making critical choices around engineering and automation, customer experience, and feature prioritization tradeoffs. Value Dynamics modeling is a technique pioneered by Sam McAfee and Timothy James while at Change.org in 2012. This talk will be an adaptation of a forth-coming workshop to be launched on the Luxr platform in early 2014.
Who are our presenters? Sam McAfee is currently a Principal at Neo Innovation. He has fifteen years of experience helping technology product teams to be successful and deliver meaningfully for the business. During that time, he has been an active member of the Agile, Lean Startup, and Kanban communities in the Bay Area. He also brings many years of experience as a community activist, where he is particularly interested in the intersection of open source and community organizing.
Tim James leads the Data/science team at change.org, where he and his team build distributed systems and recommendation engines to drive social change. He seeks to create value by connecting the dots from the business model all the way through to the code and systems design.
What is the agenda?
• 6:30-7:00 socializing
• 7:00-7:xx presentation / Q & A
• 7:xx-8:30? more socializing!
What else do I need to know? In an effort to keep things lean, I'm hoping to create just-in-time libation and food sponsorship. For now, though, there is no waste in overproduction or expense.
