Sustaining Disruption: How to Balance Innovation & Early Growth with Rob Fan

  • September 20, 2012 · 6:30 PM

Sharethrough has been quietly disrupting the advertising space using a lean startup approach from before the term lean startup existed.

In this talk, Rob Fan, CTO and co-founder, will share some of the do's and don'ts of scaling disruption including how to deal with competition hot on your heels.

"With investors and advisors like Eric Ries, Ron Conway, Steve Blank, Dave McClure, Mike Mapples, and Auren Hoffman, this should be a great in depth look at what it's like to run a lean startup from the ground up." - sez Tristan

As always, beer, food, and a good hang with great people is included thanks to our generous sponsors at Carr and Ferrell. After expenses, extra proceeds go to building out LeanStartupCircle.com for the community.

About Rob Fan

Rob Fan is co-founder and CTO of Sharethrough, a 5 year old social video marketing startup based in SF.  Sharethrough works with Fortune 100 companies like Audi, Pepsi, and P&G to drive an audience to the brands' "viral videos" through native advertising integrations on websites like Forbes or Wordpress.

He has grown the company from himself and his co-founder to a 70 person organization with offices in SF, NYC, Chicago and LA.  Rob has been a long time practitioner of "lean" - with investors like Steve Blank and advisors like Eric Ries.

Sharethrough had the luxury of applying lean principles before the phrase "Lean Startup" even existed.  Rob also hacks and plays with the newest technology and advises early-stage startups about the successes and pitfalls he has learned thus far.

I'm going to try and get a better camera to record it today. I'd love for someone to do a write up but I'm off to Europe and have to guard the door anyway, so I don't get to watch the event live.

Do you have any special discounts/tickets for students?

Meetup's system isn't convenient, but if you RSVP and go to the paypal page, you can manually change the amount to pay. So students can give themselves a 20% discount for $20. Just please bring ID.
