Have you already applied lean startup yourself? If so - what are the key experiences you collected?

I initiated a project evaluating the Lean Startup Method for implementation within Siemens. The method was successfully adopted by corporate IT and software techies. The hardware techies however were sceptical to say the least. Our findings linked that to dedication to quality, risk of injury/property damage due to hardware failues (think of defective cars, machinery) and long iteration cycles for mechatronic systems. Key learning: Before implementing Lean Startup for hardware, esp. mechatronics, iteration time needs to go down - think 3D printing, fast prototyping.

Introduction

Researcher at Siemens Corporate Technology by day, tinkerer & maker by night. Always looking for the next big idea to put into hardware.
