Lean Sales & Marketing

We're putting together a meetup all about making sales. Whether you're doing direct sales with individuals or trying a subscription model, getting traction -- and revenues -- is key to any lean startup.

This month will be a mix of companies from pre-launch to those that are already a success. Here's what you'll learn from our speaker lineup.

Kunal Arora (@karoramj23) and Vikram Rao, Founders of Tuee, will talk about:

@tueeit

* How to sell to difficult customers
* How to build a product people want
* Early customer development and interview hacks
* Why you need to sell the problem, not the solution

Zvi Band (@skeevis), Founder & CEO of Contactually, will discuss:

@contactually

* Lessons learned from a year of successful enterprise b-to-b sales
* Marketing hacks for subscription sales
* Internal processes you should have to aid in sales
* What to actually track

Joe Colangelo (@itsjoeco), Founder & CEO of Gramicon, will talk about:

@gramiconer

* Sponsored tweets - and how to engage celebrities
* Offering incentives to test purchases
* How to use Hacker News for early traction
* Using microtasks

Jamey Jeff (@jameyjeff), Founder of Remarkable Hire, will discuss:

@remarkablehire

* How to transition from customer development to sales
* Building a pipeline before launch - and then leveraging it after
* The best sales tools
* Picking your sales entry point - end user or corporate decision maker?

Anton Gelman (@antonreport), Founder & CEO of Cont3nt, will talk about:

@cont3nt

* How to social engineer your pipeline
* Tailoring your outreach
* Crafting your sales pitch
* Using salesmanship - get out there and get customers

Ryan Healy (@rjhealy), Founder & COO of Brazen Careerist will talk about:

    What a well-run meetup! Content was outstanding and delivered what was promised in the event description. Rebecca is an excellent moderator. The event stayed on schedule and the tech and logistics ran smooth.

    It was excellent - I got a lot of value from the speakers. Great lineup of speakers, and it was nice to see a progression of firms, from idea verification all the way to high-level b2b selling.

    Good range of speakers (but no gender diversity), a few good tidbits of advice, but not sure it was worth $20 dollars, some speakers (first speakers basically just pitched....didn't really talk about sales/marketing)

    I enjoyed all of the presentations, particularly Cont3nt, Remarkable Hire, and Contactually. Very informative and interesting. Facilitator did a very good job asking questions, extracting information, and keeping the event on schedule. I found the "cute" interactions with her boyfriend (guest speaker) a bit distracting. Didn't really need to disclose that relationship anyways.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
