Once a meeting is scheduled, I can bring some grammar materials that we can go over. I found a big stack of them online. They are incredibly helpful. Learning general vocabulary is fine, but I think the next step is really going to come, for myself, once I can really start putting sentences together and conversing with other people. I'm also learning how to write, and I've picked up some tricks I can share. The small amount of reading and writing I've done has really helped me learn more quickly.

As for the native speakers in this group, it would be great to have you at a meeting, especially to share differences in regional pronunciation.

    So...who's in charge here?

Can we get this group started by, maybe, booking a room at a library or community center in town and meet up to go over some of this?

Hi John, if you remember on which site you found some of the material, could you share it here?

    Nihao Everyone,

I want to see how many of you are interested in learning Chinese as beginners?

I used to host Beginner Chinese but as the time progress, everyone has progressed. I know most of you have not yet come to class or wanted to learn but did have the chance to.

Please let me know and I am open to get one evening and host a beginning class again - if you guys show up!

I am open: Wed, Friday, Sunday for an hour meet up.

I can't go to the First Meet up on the 15th, my kids have a Football Game :(

But hopefully, this one will work better in my schedule!

I was wondering how the meet up is gonna work, do we go and just have a conversation, or do we go over the basics or what do we do? also I wouldnt say I'm a beginner but should I still go?

Even though I am wondering about the same thing, I am guessing it can be an open format. For learners that want to learn something, they can come up with ideas as to how to say this or that in Mandarin (kinda like Rosetta Stone). For intermediate learners, they can always strike a conversation.

Part of the learning also involves listening comprehension. For example, I am from South, so I would sound a bit different from Northerners. Essentially, I don't curl up my tongue when I speak.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
