Play the exciting game of Riichi Mahjong!

These meetups are organized by the United States Professional Mahjong League (USPML).

We are currently running two types of events:

* Learn to Play Workshop

A 4-hour crash course for absolute beginners to learn the basics and be able to play the game. Anyone who is interested in learning may attend. No experience necessary. Fun, interactive format - you get to play while you learn.

* League Events

A monthly gathering for Riichi Mahjong players of all levels to meet up and play together.
Have fun ~ Improve your skills ~ PLAY.
Beginners who know the rules are welcome! If you've attended a Learn to Play Workshop, you should come to Open Play to practice and have fun playing. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, and we'll have an instructor on hand to help out if you need to review.

More about Riichi Mahjong
Riichi (pronounced like "reach") Mahjong is an exciting game for four players. In some ways it is similar to card games like rummy or poker, but it is played with a set of tiles instead of a deck of cards. This game is very popular in Japan, and is rapidly gaining popularity in the United States. Envision a game with its roots in gambling, played by the Yakuza... but with a strong skill component that makes it suitable for competitive play too. Riichi Mahjong retains the excitement of a gambling-style game, but also emphasizes strategy. It is a game with a lot of depth and richness, but most of all, it's REALLY FUN!

More about the USPML
The USPML is a new organization for Riichi mahjong players in America. The USPML works to increase awareness of the game, attract new players, and forge a large and active community of people who love to play.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
