Learn to code and launch your product using the latest technology in one intense Drink-from-the-Firehose Weekend.

The event is perfect for non-technical people itching to build their own Minimum Viable Product (MVP), learn to code and finally attract a technical co-founder to their startup idea.

In short: Show up for one weekend, learn to code and ship an awesome product using the latest technology.

The entire weekend is 100% devoted to writing code and building an awesome web application using the same tools as the best startups in the country (Ruby on Rails, HTML5, CSS3, Github, Heroku, Twitter Bootstrap). The course is fast paced and condenses over 4 weeks of self-guided learning material into a single weekend.

Why students love FirehoseWeekend:

Event Details:

Friday Night (5:15PM-8:15PM): Software Install Night. We help you get the tools you'll use for the rest of the weekend up and running on your machine.

Saturday (8AM-5PM): Get the Web Development low-down. Create your initial project. Write code all day long together with instructors leading the class.

Sunday (12PM-8PM): Write more code, finalize features, wrap up changes. Get application live. Show it to the world.

Sunday (8PM): Afterparty. Come grab a drink, talk startups and celebrate with us.

Who is teaching the workshop?

The class is taught by Ken and Marco, two web developers and UX experts, who ran this same FirehoseWeekend in Boston, New York City, Pittsburgh, Harvard Business School and the University of Hawaii. Both mentor young entrepreneurs in their free time and have years of experience building products people want for some of the most successful startups in Boston (WHERE.com/eBay/PayPal/peerTransfer/Jana).

Marco Morawec is a web developer and user experience product manager. He currently builds products for startups and is a Startup Institute web development alum and Angelhack (Boston's biggest Hackathon) winner. Previously he was the user experience lead for peerTransfer building a $500M international tuition payment platform .

Ken Mazaika has been coding since he was 10 years old, worked for multiple startups (all got acquired) and was a tech lead and web developer at PayPal/eBay. He is a Startup Institute Boston instructor for the web development track and contributes open source code to Ruby on Rails, so other people can build web applications faster.

PS. You don't need to have any prior technical experience. We'll get you up to speed, no problem.

      Hey Francisco,

Yes, this event is absolutely happening! Things look a little empty here, since we're running most of the event via an eventbrite page. Make sure to double check the actual event times in the event description, since we had to make some adjustments due to HPU's weekend opening hours.

We'll also send out detailed instructions on Thursday.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
