'A Taste of Tango!'

'A TASTE OF TANGO!'

Here’s the plan for tango on Monday evenings at the Metropolis:

6pm-7pm
Socialize & practice time! During this hour, we will give you some ‘Tango Tips’ that you can practice before the lesson. 7pm-8pm
The Tango Lesson! (Argentine Tango for Beginners)
Every week, we will review what was previously taught & add in new tango moves, so that we progressively learn this dance as a group. The best dancers are those that continually review the basics to improve their technique, along with learning new, challenging steps. In the beginning, Argentine Tango is easy to learn, but it also takes a lot of time & practice to really make it look & feel authentic. You will benefit & have the most fun by attending on a regular basis.

After 8pm
Practice what you learned in our tango lesson & socialize some more!

Cost:
The beginning Argentine Tango lesson costs $5 per person or $8 per couple. Additionally, the Metropolis Supper Club requires that each person buy $6 worth of tickets that can be used to buy two drinks (or can be applied towards food). At the end of the evening, a drawing will be held and the person holding the winning tickets gets a free dinner at Metropolis. Additionally, drawings may be held for extra freebies too!

Note to the guys:
Yes, it takes 'Two to Tango' and this event always has extra ladies! Please come and tango with us! The ladies will really appreciate it!

A Note about Tango Lingo & Music
As you learn the mysterious & sultry tango, we will be introducing vocabulary that is specific to this dance. Terms such a ‘cruzada’ (taken from the Spanish word ‘cruzar’ that means ‘to cross’) and ‘ochos’ (meaning ‘8’) will take on a whole new meaning when applied to dancing tango. Becoming familiar with this vocabulary is a natural & imperative piece of learning to dance Argentine Tango.

Additionally, to get you in the mood & acquaint you with a variety of tango music, we will be playing music that features both traditional tango artists & alternative tango groups. Learning the different styles of tango music is an additional piece of learning to tango. To start with, we will be highlighting the infamous Carlos di Sarli who is a popular traditional artist whose music is great for beginners, and additionally, we will be playing music from the Gotan Project who is a group of musicians from Paris that specializes in alternative, modern tango music. So, as you can see, along with learning Argentine Tango & meeting lots of new people, you will be studying the cultural elements that accompany this unique dance! We look forward to seeing & dancing with you at ‘A Taste of Tango!’ on Monday nights at the Metropolis!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
