Android InstallFest

The First Step is to Get Started...

If you're interested in getting started with Android development, setting up your machine with the right tools is a great place to start.  Come hang out and we will help you setup your laptop for Android development!

Chat with other developers and non-developers about getting started developing Android applications. We will also discuss our plans for this group and our next steps towards helping as many members as possible get started with Android development.

Pro tip: Make sure you set up the Intel x86 accelerator or your emulator will be very slow!

Eclipse-based installation guide:  We use Eclipse because of Saros, which is a great plugin for collaborative remote pair-programming and teaching.

Alternatively, IntelliJ has a great community edition (free): for solo development.

We're always looking for office space to host these events and maybe provide snacks and drinks.  Let us know if you know someone who can host!

Quick question: are we supposed to install Eclipse BEFORE the event or we will cover that there?

You can get as far as you can before the event but we will go through all the steps on site as well.
