2-hour Android Hands-on Learning Session where you can get a tour of the Android platform, ask questions and hack on Android projects.

Firebase developer evangelist Kavya will give an overview of how Firebase works, and discuss how it simplifies the process of building mobile applications. She'll explain how to get started with the Firebase Android SDK and give a demo of their Android chat example.

So you want to be an Android developer...

If you are interested in meeting other people learning to build Android applications, building a project or you just want a quick tour of what it takes to be an Android app developer, come check out this session.

For those totally new to Android development, we will be providing a high-level tour of Android development concepts with a live demo and answer any questions you may have along the way.

We're always looking for office space to host these events and maybe provide snacks and drinks.  Let us know if you know someone who can host!

Firebase is a real-time backend for building collaborative, modern web and mobile applications. By replacing the traditional request / response model with a data synchronization approach, developers can get apps up and running in minutes. Apps built with Firebase can be written entirely with client-side code, scale automatically, and update across clients in real-time.

Is this starting at 6:30 or 8:30pm?

Timothy! I finally figured out what happened, but I'm not sure I've got the tech terminology to explain it. In any case, it was just my phone.

I love these meetups, and I hope you keep doing them. (They're very popular!) I was bummed that the August one was cancelled, and I had to miss this one -- but I'd really wanted to attend, and really want to attend the next one. :)

For a "Hands-on Session" it was not very hands-on.

The group outside was the hands on part. As we mentioned in the meetup, if you're a complete beginner to Android, there was an intro presentation. For everybody else, I was walking people through their individual projects. Maybe you can catch that part next time.

Sorry, my bad! I showed up late, and most people would have the sense to keep their mouth shut, but it just is not my style. I felt like I was walking into a lecture hall, that's all. Like I said.... my bad. Thanks for clarifying!

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
