Weekends versus Weeknights

It has been requested that the meet-ups are held on a Saturday to allow people to come. So I would like to get feedback from people as it stands it looks like a Saturday would suit most people.

The pros for holding it on a Saturday are that more people can attend, the format would be similar except it could be a four hour session. Due to needing a room/space with viable internet etc then it would look to be a small cost around $30 per workshop and spaces as with the general meet-up would need to be limited to a maximum of 20 people. This is something that I have put together from feedback already received so more is welcome.

I would like to get feedback from people regarding this as so far the Saturdays are winning, another thought for the week we could hold a small mentoring chat and discussion once a month in a smaller space where it would be more orientated to question and answer style.

If people could give me feedback that would be great.

Hi Aimee,

For me Saturdays would be great, the cost is fine as well, I think it is worth paying for a nice place to learn in. It looks like that's how they organise such sessions in Melbourne. After work is a little difficult particularly if you have to travel, I'm not far but because of public transport I really can't hang around.

Hi, Saturdays are better for me as well and the cost seems ok. A regular meetup as Aimeemaree suggests sounds good as well

Hi Aimee,

I am definitely in if there is a Saturday session because I'm travelling from Canberra. And I don't mind the small cost either. Having a longer 4 hour session would just be a bonus. I think it would be well worth my trip.

Cheers,
Ben.

I like the idea of a weekend as well. The longer time would be more productive and also allow for socialising afterwards.
The $30 is cheaper than what it would cost me to stay overnight in the city if if was held during the week.

Thanks for the feedback :D it seems like most people are fine with the Saturday some people have mentioned about weeknights? I have been offered a space in Surry Hills for weeknights so maybe I might run a less formal meet-up there to accommodate those who can not make it on the weekends? I want to see how these go and then I will re-evaluate and look into planning some more learning events for next year.

I will be finalising everything this week, so I will be posting more information on the weekend and lock in dates for the meet-up I don't expect them to change much maybe just move from the Thursday to the Saturday? I will have to also put out a note that we need people to RSVP so I can lock in catering and room space.

Also Drupal 6 versus Drupal7 training? I have had 2 responses for Drupal 7 none for Drupal 6. Most sites I know out there are in Drupal6 however any new sites should really be in Drupal7 so I am thinking of moving on the Drupal7 path any feedback here is welcome?
