Are you a marketing person launching a new product, a new ad campaign, or bringing together a customer focus group? Congratulations! You are a project manager. You should also understand that the top reasons for project failure are entirely predictable and preventable. They occur precisely because people lack the discipline to do what is required, even if they know what to do. Project management is not brain surgery, but it is a discipline that must be learned and practiced, and this event will equip you with critical tools that can dramatically increase your chances of success immediately.

This irreverent tour of the predictable and avoidable pitfalls that many people relive during the so-called “lessons learned” meeting at the end of every project will give you fresh insights on how to assure that you are not reviewing the same list of lessons every time. (These post mortem lessons are so repetitive that some people even have a checklist of their common mistakes that teams can just fill out to say “Yup! We did it again!) Join Kimberly for a lively tour of the 5 ways that you can make your project even worse, and conversely how to assure that you don’t fall into those same old traps, and the best results possible. Based on her book, “Scrappy Project Management – The 12 Predictable and Avoidable Pitfalls Every Project Faces”, this teleseminar will explore:

  • The #1 biggest cause of failure.
  • The obvious secret to great communication that many people overlook.
  • What your heart, lungs and kidneys can teach you about prioritization.
  • The biggest mistake people make in managing risk.
  • Top ways NOT to reward your team for successfully completing a project.

Kimberly presents common sense that is uncommon in projects and she does it in an entertaining way. Any way I can get a recording for my Project Management students? (PS: I went to college in Lincoln NE and saw plenty of cows. Maybe she was at the wrong campus; the agriculture school is on the other side of town.)
