Since the CIC has provided a space with a much larger capacity, I don't need to worry about RSVP limits, so you can sign up for either the beginner or advanced session by RSVPing to this event.
Bring your own laptop, and **BEFORE CLASS, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE** see the link below for instructions on getting set up. If you have a drop of compassion in your soul, please do not show up without having gone to the link below and attempted to follow the instructions. That will cause me physical pain. It is okay to mess it up so long as you gave it a try.
Note: The CIC requires you to have a valid ID for entry into the building. When you arrive, check in with the front desk in the lobby. A Driver's License or Passport is fine, as is a credit card with a picture.
The 1pm-2pm hour is for total beginners. We'll be working on arithmetic, variables, strings, conditionals, comparisons, basic input and output, and learning about the interpreter. OR as far as we get in an hour. I'll be going as slow as needed.
The 2pm-3pm hour is for those who have already learned to program in other languages. We'll be implementing some basic programs that demonstrate Python's syntax, covering variables, conditionals, looping, functions, some built-in functions, some modules, the interpreter, and probably some details about scoping and argument passing in Python. OR as far as we get in an hour. We'll see! Lots of content promised though.
For both sessions, subsequent classes will pick up right where we leave off. Note that this class is *not* building on the material from the 6th-- it is a duplicate, held a second time to accommodate as many people as possible.
