Let's meet up and spend a day in York

  • July 6, 2013 · 10:00 AM

Countless things to do in York.

I suggest we visit

The National Railway Museum http://www.nrm.org.uk/

York Minster http://www.yorkminster.org/home.html

The Jorvik Viking Centre http://jorvik-viking-centre.co.uk/

The local brewery http://www.york-brewery.co.uk/

Plenty of places for lunch such as the famous (?) Hog Roast http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186346-d2191146-Reviews-York_Hogroast-York_North_Yorkshire_England.html

or of course a picnic.

I have put a question on RSVP to ask what attraction you would like to visit.

Many ways to get to York. Train tickets are £12.30 return. Suggested trains: Leeds 09:28 to York 09:51 and York 18:12 Leeds 18:37. Please note these are off-peak return tickets. They do not need to be booked ahead of time to guarantee the price. It also means that should some participants decide to stay in York longer that evening, their tickets will be valid for other trains on the day.

It is possible to drive to York of course but parking close to the city centre can be a nightmare and is expensive.

Hello. Nice weather expected this week end with temperature that could climb over 20 degrees. Some have asked what train to use. There is a suggested train in the meet up description. Let us aim to meet at York station at 10. Please note I will now be travelling by car to York (but not from Leeds).

    Hello,
If yuo are to travel by car, I strongly recommend you use one of the Park and Ride dotted around York. All bus lines from the Park and Ride go close to the train station.
