Lets meet and chat with new and existing members!

Are you a NEW MEMBER? then this is a good opportunity for you to join us because we are a friendly group and we'll make you feel welcome and part of the group and you certainly won't be ignored!

In this meetup you get the chance to talk and get to know the members, so when you go to other events where there's not much chance to talk you'll feel comfortable because you’ll know somebody.

Getting to know people, that's the first steps towards friendship.

You can join us anytime from 7.30pm and stay as long as you like :)

There will be no charge for this event :)

Well despite the fact we had a function room of our own we did mingle with the rest of the Adelphians, especially in the very cosy beer garden. David and Cassy (none-members!) thanks for taking us to Normantons and Jake's bar afterwards. And the Adelphi thanks for the free glass of Pimms!

Looking forward to tonight but not planning to stay out too late as I have an early start and I will be running a Ping Pong session with a group of older on Friday morning.

Will someone please remind me of that at about 11pm, when I start thinking that maybe I'll stay a little longer after all :-)

Hi Munher, how about the Victoria pub, next to O'Neills and just down from Millenium Square. Its a ten minute walk from the train station so ideal for those using trains/taxi's/buses.

    September 3, 2013

    • Su

Haha...it wasn't noisy until the live band started playing...then people couldn't really chat!! Private room sounds good though. :-)

      September 4, 2013

    • Manhar

I remember now Su it was the loud band :)

Hi Munhar, I know The Palace. It is a quiet pub an have a good backyard with several tables.

    September 3, 2013

    • Manhar

Thanks Alex we have been to The Palace before and we may go again in the future:)

      September 6, 2013

Packhorse off Briggate, in a quiet alley with an outside sitting area and several local beers :)

    September 3, 2013

    • Manhar

Thanks Shiru I plan to check this one out to see if its quiet for our conversation meetups :)

Thanks for all your pub suggestions and I have decided to go with The Adelphi, one of the best traditional pubs around and something for everyone!

Regarding private rooms I am not keen because they are usually minimal with decor and lack the character of the main bar area. A private room is good for serious meeting where the lack of decor is not a distraction. Also when there is the hustle and bustle of the main bar area it adds to the ambiance and it feels as if you've had a night out, hopefully a good one! :)

Ship on Briggate, nice traditional pub. Some would say old man's pub but it's gooood, good selection of ales I imagine (don't drink these myself but people who go there seem to!) and it's been relatively quiet even on big nights out, no loud music at least.

I agree with Ana, The Ship is a nice place to have a drink

We can meet in a quiet bar so we can hear each other talk and get to know each other.

Any ideas for a suitable venue??
