ARE YOU READY TO BE SOCIALLY ACTIVE IN THE
LEFT OF CENTRE STREAM OF MELBOURNE?
While our material goods can keep us comfortable and amused, it is the meaningful connections we have with others and the memorable experiences we share that make our daily lives more satisfying and bring us true happiness. Can the LOC members offer you the connections and experiences you seek?
Are you living an outwardly conventional life but not quite fitting in? Harbouring some 'hippie' or left wing tendencies but not an all-out socialist, anarchist or rainbow person? Long for conversation with more intellect, passion, depth, heart and soul. Love lifelong learning? Respect diverse cultures and religions and feel the need to immerse yourself in them with your travels both physical and virtual?
Interested in personal growth, social justice, the arts? Considering your carbon footprint and sustainable living? Contemplating the meaning of life and your unique contribution in the world? Feel somewhat uncomfortable at mainstream 40-plus events?
Most of our members are single - however couples and those preferring to socialise without their partner are also welcome.
This is a network focused on developing friendships based on shared values and interests.
- If you said ‘YES’ to most of the above you’re in the right place
- Many of our members declare this to be the best meetup group in Melbourne!
We ask you to complete some introduction statements demonstrating how your personal values, opinions & lifestyle choices match the 'ABOUT US' statement outlined above
You also need a recent photograph for your profile to identify yourself to other members
You may prefer to NOT participate in these introduction features. Your choice. However your application will be automatically declined.
This will remain a smaller, niche group with an eclectic membership.
In order to remain open to recruit new members, inactive members will be regularly removed.
Firstly, you need to attend an event within two months of joining
Secondly, you are asked to regularly examine our calendar and attend at least one event every two months
We currently have 25 different events scheduled on our calendar - there's sure to be something that will appeal to you!
After you have attended several of our events you too are welcome to suggest events and hence our calendar reflects the diverse interests of our eclectic group.
"As much as we complain about other people, there is nothing worse for mental health than a social desert. The more connected we are to family and community, the less likely we are to experience heart attacks, strokes, cancer and depression. Connected people sleep better at night. They live longer. They consistently report being happier."
