  • Jon will pick a different spot to go birding every month. These walks will be more laid-back and social than our other trips.

    Leader: Jon Levin [masked])

We meet at the Tilghman Square parking lot on Tilghman St. in Allentown, just west of Rt. 309 (in the area between Staples and Red Robin - - closer to Red Robin).

Trips leave promptly - please arrive on time.

    • Most bird watching trips last two to four hours.

    • Bring binoculars and a field guide.

    • Dress according to the weather and be prepared for changes. Wear appropriate footgear. Also prepare yourself with mosquito & tick repellent and sunscreen in the warm seasons.

    • Pack refreshments and/or lunch, as we do not normally stop to purchase meals.

    • Car pooling is encouraged and coordinated at the meeting location on the day of the trip. If you are willing to drive, please arrive with a full tank of gas and tell the trip leader. If you are a passenger, please plan to share costs (gas & tolls) of the ride with the driver.

For questions concerning the trip, contact the trip leader. Watch your email, our website, and our Facebook page for notice on changes.

Too bad, but I must agree with you Jon; I am finding it difficult just to get to my backyard feeders, but the poor birds need food in the weather. I recently heard a good expression "Birds don't get cold, they get hungry" keep your feeders full!

Hi All, Considering that it is somewhat hazardous walking anywhere that isn't plowed I'm deciding to cancel my walk on Sunday. Even though there is minimal walking at Canal Park it still involves walking on the snow and ice and it's not worth someone taking a spill. It's an adventure walking 20 feet out my backyard to fill my bird feeders.

Mark, Amy Haus and I went to Canal Park in Allentown last Sunday. There were many gulls including an iceland. And an peregrine. So I'm thinking about going back. Of course if we do all we will see are rock pigeons. Any other ideas?

Sounds good. Field birds, gulls, and ducks come to mind in general. With the canal park we just need to be lucky enough to have the gulls fly up from the sewage area.

Jon, What do you think we will go see this time?
