Other Important Information:
You must have provided your information to me (have an "I" as your title) in order to sign up for an event or be cleared from the waiting list. Maybe RSVP's are not permitted for this event. Please consider this seriously before you RSVP, it is very important that we have an accurate count a couple of days in advance to provide to the organization. Last-minute drop-outs reflect badly on our organization. You may bring one child per adult. You must monitor your child at all times, and be fully responsible for them. Please note that you will bring a child (and child's age) along with your RSVP. If you are signing up for the Disney pass, you will have to coordinate with me to be able to sign up a child (it is set to 18). Lend a Hand can now approve a pass for each volunteer for the "Give a Day Get a Disney Day" program! Please follow the instructions under 'Files' if you're interested in getting a pass. You must complete the entire sign-up process with Disney and HandsOn (per the instructions) for me to be able to approve the pass.

LEND A HAND!
How 'Pinellas Hope' benefits our community In December 2007 Catholic Charities formed a partnership with the inter-faith community, local government, businesses and other not-for-profit entities to open Pinellas Hope. The residents at Pinellas Hope may sleep undisturbed, take a shower, and have a comforting evening meal. There is a strict code of conduct in Pinellas Hope. The clients will be required to agree to rules associated with the shelter facility. Security/background checks will be done on every prospective resident to assure, to the best of our ability, that the clients of Pinellas Hope will be safe and secure. Individuals will not be allowed in Pinellas Hope if the presence of that individual could threaten the safety of other clients and personnel. For more information, visit their website:

I was glad to participate in Pinellas Hope and meet all of our wonderful volunteers. Yes, we all wanted to do more, but our help was appreciated by many. It was eye opening to see and learn about the homeless situation in our community and Norman was open and honest and answered our questions. It was a good turn out.

We had a great turnout! Too bad they didn't have much work for us to do! The tour was great, and Norman was an awesome tour guide! Thanks to all of my volunteers for helping!

Was nice meeting everyone!! Our guide Norman was wonderful and all the residents were very appreciative of our efforts. Pinellas Hope is providing a much needed service to the people there - not only shelter and food, but kindness and encouragement.

It's good to know there is such a place to help homeless people.
Nice to meet everyone and hope to work more next time.

Volunteering at Pinellas Hope was a great experience. I got to meet like-minded people, yet got to help out in a good cause. I wish I could have contributed more, but the event did open doors for me to volunteer again and has shown me ways to contribute back to the organization.

Perhaps next time I can practice my vocals and help out on the singing. :-P

I enjoyed seeing people come together to help others. I wish that we could have done more but it was a small step at making the world a better place!

Firstly, I don't feel like I did "enough" to help in so much as I wish I could have done more than just serve food to the clients. It was good to see the volunteers come together for a good cause and it was great to get the "in person" feel of what is really going on outside of my neighborhood. Secondly, I just got my feet wet in the "Volunteer Pool". I have volunteered before for events but not for a not for profit cause. I have had a job recruiting volunteers for a not- for- profit organization but this was a great first experience.

Lastly, It was nice to meet Kelly after seeing all that she does on the Lend a Hand site. I have a good feeling about the future experiences I will have by joing Meetup!

It was very enlightening to see this side of Tampa. My heart goes out to the homeless. I was glad to be there tonight and to serve them. I would like to go back and help again.

If you're interested in contributing more than your time, they are always in need of the following items:
Deodorant, razors, cold medicine without alcohol, t-shirts, socks, or any toiletry items. The population is 80% men, 20% women.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
