What this group is about: This group is for creative lesbian women of all skill levels and artistic interests.
Our focus is on creative fun. You must have some kind of a camera and a love of or strong interest in photography and be willing to stretch your creativity muscles. Don't worry or ever feel that you don't have a good enough camera or that you're not creative enough. As a former art teacher, I firmly believe that everyone is creative in the same way that everyone has a voice; we just need to learn how to use it, and to do that we must start where we are.
Either digital or film is ok. The Holga and other toy cameras are a lot of fun, and the iPhone can create similar results without the expense of film and developing. Whatever you use, it has to be fun, and that's what we're all about.
Who can join: This is a group for Lesbians, but all women are welcome to attend. Young photographers (minimum 12 years of age) may accompany an adult member, but both MUST BE ACTIVE photographers at the event.
What we will do: Explore nature, tour museums, and shoot street life. We will make friends, share our work and have a good time. Group shows are a genuine possibility. Although this is not directly intended as an instruction group, we are sure to learn how to be better photographers by working together. Let's discover the visual wonders of Southern California!
Any member can schedule a Meetup. Suggestions are always welcome.
Attendance: if you RSVP, you are expected to attend. If you cannot attend, please change your RSVP to no even if it is at the last minute. As early as possible is preferred. If you do not attend when you said you would, you will be marked as a no show. Three no shows will bar you from the group. It is a serious violation of the groups' trust, and it is disrespectful to say you are coming and not show. If you are not able to agree to these terms, this is not the group for you.
I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
