This group is designed to offer a chance for lesbians in the suburbs to have an opportunity to meet and develop friendships with like people of varied interests. I would like to provide a safe place for all women whether a lifelong lesbian, newly discovered attraction to women, currently married and questioning, single and questioning, whatever part of your journey you are in, to feel welcome and respected. I have found in my journey, only coming out in the last few months at the age of almost 43 with two kids and the ending of an 18 year marriage, there are few places for people like me and really for lesbians as a whole in the suburbs. My hope is to organize a regular time to meet and be available just to chat with anyone who is looking for some direction or an ear to listen or just to meet up and have some fun. We are named the "Hicks" not because we live in the burbs but after Eleanor Roosevelt's alleged love Lorena Hickok whom she lovingly referred to as "Hick". Join our group for strength, support, understanding, friendship and fun. My journey has finally pointed toward an authentic life and I am excited to build a new community in support of that while supporting others regardless of the similarities in their journey to mine.
