Pleasanton, CA

What style/s of Bellydance do you prefer ?

I love all styles ! - I stared off doing Classical and Egyptian, before having my flirtation with ATS, but now I see myself as a very British American Cabaret Dancer.

How long have you been dancing ?

I started in 1991. I qualified as a dance teacher in 2000 and taught in the UK until 2012. I now teach and perform in the Pleasanton/Dublin/Livermore area.

What first got you interested in Bellydance ? who inspires you ?

I started class after my second baby was born as a way to get fit. My first teacher was Tina Holborn, and I remember how hard it was to make her smile or to get a "well done" from her. I think that made me try all the harder. I am inspired by so many dancers ! - I love the style of the Bellydance SuperStars and the showmanship of Aziza. I also love the black and white movies and dancers like Samia Gamel. But mostly I am inspired by women like Amel, Shira and Morocco who have spent so much of their lives researching this dance and then sharing that knowledge so that we can be informed about this dance style.

How do you want to develop your dancing in the next 12 months ?

I would like to expand my classes and to inspire a whole new group of beginners to become Bellydancers. I would like to perform more often and to be able to teach more workshops. I would also like to expand my work to help women and girls with low body image.

Which of the classes are you hoping to join ? Livermore, Dublin or Pleasanton?
