The entrance is close to 1460 Graham Hill Road but it is across the street and down the road a bit. The entrance looks like this (coming from Felton. Give me a call if you can't find it[masked]-7243.
Distance: 4-5 miles
Elevation gain: About 800 feet
Exposure: Mixed Sun and Shade, mostly shade
Trail Conditions: Steep in places, 2 creek crossings (coming and going); ticks and poison oak.
Duration: No more than three hours
What to Bring: Water, tick repellent, hiking sticks if you use them. A snack if you want to have a bite at the observation deck. We'll be mostly in the shade but there will be some sun on the trail to the observation deck. It is colder in the trees down near the water although you'll get warm hiking up the hill.
From the trailhead we will descend to Powder Mill Creek and pass over the creek (which is low and easy to cross) the path twists and turns to ascend into the park until it intersects with Powder Mill Fire Road. We will turn right at the intersection and make our way up to the Observation Deck where we will rest before starting our return trip.
This is a moderately strenuous hike, you should be in condition to keep up with the group. If you are faster than the group and want to go ahead, keep the group in sight unless you are positive you know the route we are taking. There are several areas with short but sustained uphill climbs.
