Hi Angela I have a fabulous Youth African Dance DVD I can suggest for your daughter. The works are FUN, easy to follow and I have all three age groups (Kids, Tweens, and Teens) on the DVD, so she can work from her current age upwards. The music and dance choreography encourages the youth to do this dance party workout with me. You can check it out at http://www.kukuwadanceworko... You can also reach me at [masked] for further questions. :-)

I'm a DCPCS teacher & an avid stepper! I have always thought of the art of stepping (traditionally practiced by the National Pan-Helenic Councel's fraternities & sororities) as an exciting, creative, way to keep active physically. Over the years stepping has grown in its popularity & is now regularly practiced & idolized by youth in many urban communities across the nation. I see a great opportunity for it to become more than an art-form, but a way to engage our youth into physical fitness! ~LLH
As avid fitness enthusiasts and owners of the Curves fitness franchise in Cleveland Park, we would love to join the initiative to combat childhood obesity and work towards a healthier community! At Curves, we see the impact that regular workouts have on women's lives and would like to help promote active lifestyles to those who may not have access to a fitness facility. Would love to discuss ideas! Marian & Michelle, Owners, Curves Cleveland Park. www.curvesclevelandpark.com

I am a mother of two elementary school kids and find that I battle almost daily with the junk food that is served in the schools and I'm not even talking about the school lunches. It's the frequent parties and rewards and they serve them McDonalds and candy! I'm desparate to get thoughts and advice from others about how I can introduce the healthy eating principles of the Let's Move campaign to my children's school.
Yes! I'm a former public school teacher but left DC on my bicycle for 14 months to immerse myself in learning about sustainable food around the country. I'm back in the District and have lots of ideas but am looking for a community like this to discuss how we can reintroduce the joys of preparing and sharing healthy food, and just generally celebrating more active lifestyles. :)Ibti (A Bikeable Feast)
I am a freelance journalist in DC. I am a chef and have taught cooking to children and adults for 15 years and want to get children and their parents cooking healthy food together. Americans eat so much processed food that it is literally killing us. If we can show people how delicious, fun, and important eating and cooking together is, we can return to a more nutritious way of cooking.
