In the beginning, Let’s Share Housing was geared towards helping seniors and baby boomers find affordable housing options and/or companionship through cohabitation. It soon became apparent, however, that due in part to the housing shortage in Portland, shared housing is something of great interest to people of all ages.
We hold monthly meetups on the East and West sides of Portland, where people can meet as either a householder/homeowner, who has a home to share with others, or as a homeseeker, who is looking for a place to rent.
The formula of our meetups is as follows; we meet at a quiet place (usually a library) for introductions and discussion that last about 2 hours. Then we move to a nearby location for Happy Hour. We encourage you to attend the Happy Hour to get to know others in a more relaxed environment. This an opportunity for you to mingle and get better acquainted with those you found to have compatible lifestyles from the earlier portion of the meeting.
Our website, letssharehousing.com, will be launched later this summer, so that people can find one another online by creating profiles, placing ads, and scheduling times to get to know each other in between meetups.
Thank you for your interest in Let’s Share Housing! Please come to a meetup and see what we are all about; we're looking forward to meeting you face to face and learn more about you and your shared housing journey!
