Walk St. Louis Riverfront Trail

From downtown St. Louis, take Washington Avenue east, past the Gateway Arch grounds to the riverfront.  Turn left on Leonor K. Sullivan Boulevard.  Proceed north a short distance, past the President Casino.  Parking is available in the lot at the intersection of Lewis and Biddle Streets.

We will meet at the parking lot and proceed north on the 11 mile paved trail, but only traveling for approximately 3 miles and return same route.  Total distance 6 miles. (Can shorten or lengthen, depending on your pleasure.  As always, dress for weather, bring water, and consider your comfort level of exercise, while challenging yourself a little more.

The trail travels along the St. Louis flood-wall, much of the time bordering the Mississippi River. The downtown section of the flood-wall is marked by a 190 foot ceramic mural.

Roughly the first one-half of the trail travels through the 'working riverfront' of industrial and shipping facilities.  This is the section we will explore.

I had to GPS the directions, which came from a website for Confluence trails along the Mississippi River Front.

meet at 1:00 and start walk at 1:10.

The pictures caught my eye on the main page, and I had to click on them to see what they were. I had no idea this was downtown. I will definitely have to check it out, but I'm guessing I shouldn't go by myself.

Oops click returned too soon. This is more suited for biking than walking. Check out the link above for other trails on the greenway. I think this path was 11 miles from downtown aroundLacledes Landing to Chain of Rocks park. We just did an out and back for a 6 mile walk.

I have walked this many times. It is a neat walk that gives a different perspective of the city.
