Save the North 40 at Horseshoe Canyon

Join the Access Fund, the Arkansas Climbers Coalition, Dynamic Earth and The Little Rock Climbing Center for a day of trail building, erosion control and fun at one of Arkansas' most popular climbing destinations. The North 40 @ HCR has something for everyone. Now it's our turn to take care of our playground. Meet at the campground pavilion at 9 a.m. Dinner, slide show, and more after the work is done. Free climbing and camping for all of the volunteers.

How are things looking weather-wise? Alternate date?
I am recovering from a bronchitis...not sure I'll be out if its going to be rainy.

I agree Matt, since Access Fund is coming to this and they have a schedule for spots all over the country, I doubt there would be a rain date. We can always offer our help to the ranch anytime they need some extra help. It's a shame that the weather keeps messing up our events. I'm going to have to drop out because I have hurt my back.

Any need for a couple chainsaws....?? I'd be happy to help clear some trees out of the way if needed.

Thanks for the offer Ian but we will be using handtools. Anything that requires power tools will be handled by the Ranch Employees due to liability concerns.

Hey everyone. Due to tons of use, the North 40 at Horseshoe has become an erosion nightmare. We'd love to have a large Springfield contingent to show our support for our local Ozarks Recreational areas.

I'm down to help any way I can but what will I more than likely be doing? If someone who knows how to set new anchors to replace old ones, I can belay all day.

    • Diane P.

Jacob, I think we will be shoveling dirt.

I would love to help, but will be traveling on Friday and not sure I can make it by 9am to Arkansas, please let me know of other opportunities to help in this manner. I would love it.

Jodi, we will be working all day! No need to be there right at 9. Arrive anytime!!

Do we need to be able to climb a rock, or can you also use rakers, shovelers, debris picker-uppers, etc.? And if so, can you also use teenage workers?

    March 7, 2013

    • Diane P.

Suzy, yes! Yes to teenagers and to rakers and shovelers! The ranch is beautiful and you don't even have to touch the rocks if you don't want to.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
