November Backpacking Trip. It's that time again!

If you didn't got on last year's overnight backpacking trip at Richland Creek, you didn't only  miss the falls and the invisible Sandcastle, but missed Davy Jones in the cave, 2000 river crossings, Chad climbing up and tree with an ax and Chris making a 5 star breakfast in the middle of the woods.

Since we all liked last year's adventure so much, we're going back! We'll be hiking to Richland Creek at Twin's Falls and camp in that area...and whoever wants to still tackle mission impossible (finding the well-hidden Sandcastle) can do that as well!

Hope to see you! If you have any gear needs, approach me fast so we can set you up! This trip requires planning as you will be out in the Wilderness with no civilization in a 10 mile radius!

What an awesome hike! Great group of people, and amazing scenery! It was some pretty challenging terrain, but well worth the experience! Can't wait to do it again! Great job on the planning Mandy!

This one was so awesome. Fantastic group of people, sandcastle found (and worth it), swimming in November, gunfire, no one hurt. Thx Mandy for organizing!

Had a great time in the Richland Creek area and plan on going back, so much to see. Meet some cool new friends that like to play in the woods, look foward tromping in the woods again someday, Thank You All for the memories.

The Richland Creek backpacking trip was amazing!! We had a blast meeting and hanging out with such fun and great group of people. We really appreciate all the hard work put into organizing this trip. We loved every minute and the Richland Falls and Devils Fork falls were an awesome site. Hard to put into words the hike to see the so talked about sandcastle, but we can say it was definitely worth the hike by far, incredible! Looking forward to the next trip!!

Should be great weather.....high 50's during the day, high 40's at night....hard to beat that! May see a few sprinkles on Sunday....but that's not a deal breaker :)

does anyone know how quickly the water goes back down on the creek? With last weeks rain bringing it up three feet... we've had twice the rain yesterday so if the creek doesn't go down very fast we won't be able to cross. Do we have alternate plans for another location if that's the case?

sounds like fun Bill but I have a lot to do with work the following week so I won't be able to extend it. I guess I'll see everyone when they get there Saturday am. I'll be in the campground area at the trail head.

We'll keep a closer eye on the weather as the week proceeds. If it is too wet AND cold, then I will offer a rain date for those who'd rather go later. I don't want new backpackers to be miserable. But I am confident we'll have another beautiful weekend!

It's deer season (rifle) in Arkansas from 11/2 through 12/4.......might want to wear some orange so we don't have any rednecks mistaking us for upright walking deer with hiking packs :)

Craig, to be honest, this is one of the roughest hikes there is in the area. It's doable, but consider your pack will weigh between 40 to 50 lbs. Even though it's not a "looooong" hike, it's very rocky and overall rough territory. If you want to hold back on this particular hike, we are doing many other fun things these days...and in the new year we'll be putting on more hikes and another backpacking trip in an less rugged area. Hope to meet you soon!

I've been wanting to join you all on a hike for a while now, and this looks like a lot of fun. however, i'm not in the greatest shape these days, how difficult of a hike will this be?

Here is the route that most of us will be taking...however, car pooling from Springfield will be the way to go. I will also sent out emails with directions later as well, since we don't want to visit the landslide again...
Harrison to Jasper (HWY 7 S), onto 74 E to AR123 S...pass Mt. Judea, Turn left onto Lurton Assemblies of God Church Rd, Co Rd 37, then 279 and 1. I will have maps ready for you!

google maps... Springfield to Richland Creek Campground. seems like a pretty good route if you don't want to come thru Jasper.

already have plans this weekend, otherwise I'd be there! Richland creek campground is still closed due to the land slide, I believe. Y'all have a great time!
