Lexington I.T. Forum - March Meeting

This month's topic will be managing consumer devices on business networks, or "Bring your own device/BYOD", and also Wi-fi.  Our speaker will be Cory McGlone.  Cory is a Solutions Architect at MCPc here in Lexington.

Users bringing their own devices and expecting them to be connected to business networks can present some technology challenges, but it has become almost impossible to stop the iPads and other devices from coming in.  So what do you do?  Here are some topics that we will cover:

1. As IT Admins do you cringe or embrace? Why?
2. Ways to ensure that your network is ready for BYOD.
3. Ways to make sure security is ready for BYOD.
4. Benefits of BYOD.

1. Benefits of Wi-Fi
2. Hindrances of Wi-Fi signals.
3. Wireless security
4. Benefits of Wireless surveys, spectrum analysis, and stumblers.

As always, there will be time for networking and open topics. If you have found something that you think that others in the group cannot live without, please come prepared to share. Time is available toward the end of the meeting to present tough I.T. problems you may be having to the group that others can help solve.

If you tell the Gatti Town cashier that you are with the "Microsoft Group" they will give you our group rate. We meet in one of the meeting rooms to the left once you pass the two dining rooms with projection screens. Directions and more information can be found here:

We need topics and presenters for April and May. Please contact the group administrator if you would like to present, or suggest a topic.

If you would like to help cover some of the group's costs for the Meetup page and other expenses, please see the donation link on the left side of our Meetup page for more information.
