Please join us on August 8th as we lighten things up a bit and read the classic book Annie On My Mind, by Nancy Garden, first published in 1982, reissued for it's 25th anniversary.  It's very reasonably priced at $8.99.  If you buy the book at Politics and Prose, you will receive a 20% discount.

This groundbreaking book is the story of two teenage girls whose friendship blossoms into love and who, despite pressures from family and school that threaten their relationship, promise to be true to each other and their feelings.

The 25th Anniversary Edition features a full-length interview with the author by Kathleen T. Horning, Director of the Cooperative Children's Book Center. Ms. Garden answers such revealing questions as how she knew she was gay, why she wrote the book, censorship, and the book's impact on readers - then and now.

As always, please email us with your suggestions for future reading or for anything you think will improve the Lez Read experience!  Hope to see you there!

I really enjoyed the story although I really couldn't relate to it except with the different class with each other's family.

Sorry I had to change my RSVP to no at the last minute because I had to work late. I hope to be at the next meeting.

LOved reading the book. Unfortunately, I am going to have to miss this meeting. I have to be out of town on Wednesday ;-(.
I look forward to the next reading. PS: Did Nancy Garden go to Brearley? She mentions it.
