Gather together with other terrific liberal women for friendly discourse about the issues of the day. Our luncheons are all about sharing in fun and camaraderie while participating in lively conversations. We'll eat, drink, and put our "blue" spin into solving the problems of the world!
Since our lunches have become so well attended, we are more and more often finding ourselves without space for everyone who wishes to attend. Therefore, if at any time prior to lunch you find you are not going to be able to join us, please return to the meetup event page and change your rsvp to "not attending" to free up a chair for some other terrific LL.
A few guidelines for our "southie" lunches:
As our lunches are usually filled to capacity and with so many vocal and passionate women at the table, it is easy to dissolve into chaos, so please extend the following courtesies to your sisters:
One person at a time has the floor. Be respectful and do not carry on side conversations while someone else is speaking. It inhibits others hearing (and it isn't polite.)
Please do not monopolize the floor. We all have a lot to say and a limited time. Everyone deserves a chance to speak. If you're talking for too long, I'll have to interrupt to move things along and I don't like to embarrass anyone so please do some self-monitoring.
As South lunch facilitator, it's my responsibility to make sure things run as smoothly as possible. If I clang the glass, please stop talking. No one can hear anything if everyone is talking at once.
Even liberals don't always agree on everything (really, it's true) so be respectful of others' views. We want this to be a safe environment for voicing opinions.
If you find it difficult to get the floor, just give me a little sign (hand waving alla classroom isn't necessary) and I'll make sure you get your turn.
By following these guidelines, I hope all members will have a chance to fully participate in our interesting discussions and enjoy the group for years to come.
