Subject: [liberal-106] Call the AZ Insurance Commissioner

Hi to all,

I recently received an email asking me to call the Arizona Insurance Commissioner to request that their office support the full enforcement/implementation of the new health care bill. I did call and I didn?t like the way I was treated. The woman who answered the phone was polite but hostile (she asked me repeatedly to tell her where I got the number). I told her I had received an email relating that insurance company lobbyists were attempting to influence the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) in an effort to weaken the new health care law. That I was calling to request that Christina support the spirit and full implementation of the new law. I said that I was an Arizona citizen and I had a right to call and make my views known to the commissioner and request that she support a strong implementation of the law.  All I got in response was the continued hostile demand to relate who sent me the email. When I asked what the Commissioner?s plans were in regard toward supporting the new law, this woman said she could not speak for the commissioner, and refused to tell me anything. Honestly, I feel I ended up being highly ineffective in my effort as I got flustered and angry from this woman?s incessant demands to tell her who told me to call, so I?m asking you all to take on this phone call as well and hopefully get through in a manner I feel I failed to do.

This office definitely needs to know that there are Arizonians out there who strongly support health care reform. At the last dinner we talked about what we can do. If you support the health care reform bill, please call Arizona?s Insurance Commissioner Christina Unias at[masked] and tell her that you support strong and tough insurance regulations that control costs and check the rampant insurance company policies that place profit over health care needs. That you are calling to request that Arizona?s Insurance Commissioner not fall prey to the upcoming surge of insurance lobby manipulation and actively enforce the new law (as well as the spirit of this law) which makes health care more decent and affordable for all the residents of Arizona.

And I hope that with fair warning of how you will be treated during this call, you have a better experience that I,
