Re: [liberal-106] Additional AZ Voting Info

I called the Democratic Party and they recommended voting yes for props 119 and 204 and not for the others.

My husband is a judge so we tell people not to bother either way unless we want to get rid of people which we don't.  There is some kind of campaign against Pelander, the first judge in the upper left hand column, but we've heard from lawyers we trust saying he is a good guy.

The Dem party recommends obviously Terry Goddard and also Marcia Macre?  for water commissioner.  Hope I got her name right.  Already mailed my ballot and didn't write it down.

Rebecca,

Thank You! We were at a loss when it came to the judge.  I appreciate your recommendations.

I agree with your criteria for the propositions  Governor Brewer is just too much

I researched each judge and proposition, there is a site you can go to for the info on the judges, my criteria for the judges were... Elected by a Democratic Governor and were also Democratic or Independent.   For the Propositions I tried to chose those that Gov Brewer were against.

Hi to my liberal thinking friends,

For anyone interested… I finally got my ballot and doing my final voting research so I have a bit more candidate info to share. If anyone has any voter info they'd like to share with me I will be open to new info on candidates up till election day.
·         Tea Party Conservatives are trying to force John Pelander out as an AZ Supreme Court Justice because he did not support their agenda and ruled to keep Prop 121 on this year's ballot. He is a republican and was appointed by Jan Brewer, but his record shows him to be a good judge; my thought is that if the tea party is trying to vote him out he has to be way better than whomever they hope to replace him with.  http://azstarnet.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/elections/groups-mount-effort-to-remove-ariz-justice-prompting-pelander-to/article_d4af66d9-baa5-5134-8980-30e145d4c993.html

School Board candidates - it is so hard to find good info on the smaller political offices. Here's all I could come up with…
·         I have read several articles that Dave Wells has written in the past few years http://www.makedemocracywork.org/columns/ . He has a liberal viewpoint and a strong democratic endorsement list. I contacted him and asked if he had any endorsements for other school board seats and he was kind enough to offer names of competing candidates in his "vote for no more than 3" election category:
o   Tempe Union (all support the Tempe Union Bond Approval Question 1 and 2)
Dave Wells - http://www.wells4schools.com/?page_id=4
Michelle Helm - http://www.michellehelm.com/
Sandy Lowe  - http://sandylowe.com/
o   Kyrene Elem - Ross Robb, Ellen Shamah and Michelle Hirsch
