Arizona for profit prisons

A former member
Post #: 39
I just called Gov. Brewer’s office to state my opposition to the for profit prison contract this Friday. There is sufficient evidence that prisons operated by for-profit do not save the state money, are less safe, and are not accountable to taxpayers. Shouldn’t we be spending our tax dollars on education, infrastructure, and services? Instead of for profit companies who charge us 9.5% more, employ Brewer’s top advisors and “provide” something we don’t need (AZ prison population has fallen 1.6% over the last year and prison population is expected to remain flat over the next 2 years). Call right now and express your concerns too: 602-542-4331

...and give their executives a higher salary (about 1.3 Million/year vs 148K/y for the government executive).
Government run prisons must follow stricter regulations, thus keeping us safer.
