Volunteer and go to a Ram's game for Free!

This is a great volunteer opportunity if you believe in recycling and / or a Ram’s fan. The Ram’s Greenteam is looking for volunteers to help out at their home games. We have been doing this for a few years now and I can tell you it is a pretty easy gig. Basically, there are two persons assigned a section in the lower bowl of Dome. Each team goes to their section and collects recyclables (primarily plastic beer bottles). You only do this at the end of the 1st quarter, halftime, end of the 3rd quarter, and about 10 minutes after the game. Since the time between quarters is so short, it only takes a couple of minutes to collect what you can. You can’t be collecting while the game is going on! The people that sit in these sections are usually season ticket holders and are familiar with the Green team and what we do so they are very cooperative.

So what do you do the rest of the time??? Watch the game from the volunteers own party room. So for a little work, you get to see the Rams play for free. You also get a Rams Greenteam t-shirt to wear and get an invitation to season ending party at Rams park.

You can pick out what games you want to work. Some volunteers do them all, some only one or a couple. We have already signed up to work 4 of them – the Cowboys, 49ers, Seahawks, and Denver games. It would be great to see some fellow Meetupers join in. Some of you are familiar with JoAnn and Mary Kay from working on the Christmas light drive. Great folks to deal with.

NOW is the time of year when they recruit and schedule volunteers for games. The invite to volunteer goes out to a large database of people so to secure your spot at the games you would like to go to requires some quick action. Signing up is easy as picking out your games, providing contact info and your t –shirt size and e-mailing it to them. Below is the e-mail I received about signing up. You can put my name in as the group. They will know who I am.

Here is her e-mailRandy,

Your folks can send an email to [masked].  Email should include everything on this form, especially contact information.  Rams website will have the [masked] address on it in the next couple of days.

Easiest is to copy, complete and return the attached form.  I have included a copy below fyi. I don't think this works if you try to fill it out here, but completing the attachment and returning it has been working.

A couple of answers - Marjorie, Shrewsbury is closest for us so we always hop on there. And you are right that there is plenty of parking. Jim, yes they will send an e-mail but I can tell you they ask you get there an hour before game time and the entrance used is on the north side of the dome and to the west side, Unfortunately, it is the farthest entry from the Metrolink stop but it's still close and an easy walk. Dress is casual so jeans are fine. I would suggest comfortable shoes :). By the way, I got an e-mail today that they are still looking for volunteers so it is not too late to sign up.

I think Shrewsbury will be best for me for a couple reasons - there will be less traffic on hwy 44 before and after the games and the large parking lot

would anyone be interested in meeting at a centrally located Metro Link station and going together - is there still one right by one of the Barnes Hospital parking lots -

I picked that station because we used it a few years ago to attend an event at the Scottsdale Center. Since Randy has used Metro Link to get to the Dome I'm looking forward to his input on the best centrally located station to use.

the Shrewsbury Metrolink Station might have more parking spaces - I used to take it to Lambert field - would this work for anyone else

When I signed up the Rams sent back a confirmation e-mail which also said they would send an additional e-mail about a week before the game with further instructions. I suppose at that time they will tell us which gate to use, time, where to go etc.

Thank you, thank, you, thank you Terry for actually taking the time to read the posts. I make an effort to try and provide as much info as possible which I understand make them long. However, about 90% of the questions I get are already answered in the post. Meetup's template for posting events requires a date or you can't complete it. It also put's events in chronological order. Since the volunteer spaces do fill up, I just picked an early date instead of the 1st game because it would be too late by then.

I'm not finding "the attached form" could you help me please - it's probably right in front of me

    July 12, 2014

    • Randy J.

There should be a download button at the very bottom of the post. It will look like (and ask for the same info) as what she posted as an example. It's pretty basic. You can just send an e-mail stating what games you want to do, your contact info and T-shirt size and note on it that you know me if that is easier.

I have signed up for the same 4 games. thanks

Yes, if you drive, parking is on your own. I highly suggest Metrolink. It drops you off right by the dome, you don't have the cost of paying to park or the hassle of finding a place. Rick, I don't know what you mean by a cost for the meeting.

Randy, when it says above that you can "put my name in as group", is that you or someone else? What does the July 17th meetup date refer to?

    July 11, 2014

    • Randy J.

there is a question on the form asking the group or business affiliation. You can stick my name in there and they will know you are with my group even if you do other games than the one's we (Charlotte and I) are doing. The date has no real meaning. I have to put something in the blank and I'm hoping it will get people moving on it. There are only so many spots per game.
