Coffee, Tea, and Conversation

This will be our regular meeting, and if the first two are any indication, we are going to have another lively round of good open discussions and making some new friends.

We begin the group with with a round of introductions where everyone take 3-4 minutes to tell a little about themselves, and to address the topic of the day.  Once we've gone around the group, we shift gears, and open the floor for discussion.  This allows for a lot of good discussion, and everyone is free to participate as little or as much as they'd like.

As always, please show up a little early to order coffee, etc, so we can start on time.

I look forward to see you!

Here's another local concern -- Fracking in Colorado. I've copied this from a friend and am sharing with the group in case you want to watch. fyi Please share:Through June 12th, "Split Estate," the film that documents the devastating health and environmental impacts from fracking in Colorado, is being streamed on the Internet, so PLEASE alert ALL of your friends and contact lists! The film can be accessed at this link: www.cpt12.org/splitestate.

Woke up with a bothersome headache; I may have to skip this gathering. Darn! And I was going to bring my book, "Salt Sugar Fat" about the food industry. Oh, well, maybe next time...

Congress has exempted themselves from every law they ever write. I'm sure they are busy using the argument, "well it's the law we get paid" to excuse this too.

We are on the slippery slope. Slowly, but surely, our Constitutional rights are being eroded.

      June 8, 2013

  • Elaine Murszewski

What do you think of Congress keeping their full wage and benefits while unemployment checks have been cut by 18.3% in Colorado?

    May 26, 2013

    • Elaine Murszewski

Leta, we don't need "parties", we need people in Congress who represent the ones that put them there. "We the People, for the People ....."

I agree with Elaine although I certainly would pick Democrat over Repugnican 99% of the time, there are too many examples of ALL politicians disregarding citizens as a whole, or only interacting with them when expedient. I like Gillibrand (NY) for example and her work on rape in the military, only to find out she is in bed with banksters.

This is a bit off-topic but does anyone know the pricing of the burritos? I looked at the Strange Grounds facebook page, wrote to them, have not received a reply. Thank you!

Given the postings on the event page, it seems that there is a fair amount of interest in what's been going on with food in America, so that will be our topic for discussion this Saturday.

There have been some thought provoking movies, such as Super Size Me and Forks Over Knives, and the issues involving Monsanto (GMOs, etc).. which should make for another lively discussion.

I ended up going to the March Against Monsanto downtown today which might have been a great group activity. Maybe a topic for discussion at the next meeting would be GMO's.
