Coffee, Tea, and Conversation

This will be our regular meeting, and if the first few are any indication, we are going to have another lively round of good open discussions and making some new friends.

We begin the group with with a round of introductions where everyone take 3-4 minutes to tell a little about themselves, and to address the topic of the day.  Once we've gone around the group, we shift gears, and open the floor for discussion.  This allows for a lot of good discussion, and everyone is free to participate as little or as much as they'd like.

As always, please show up a little early to order coffee, etc, so we can start on time.

I look forward to see you!

Also, to help defray the expenses of Meetup, we are asking for a nominal donation of $1.00.

*** We've had another change of venue, due to some scheduling conflicts with Whole Foods.  I'll be bringing coffee to the library, and I'm wondering if people would like to do a "semi" breakfast potluck.  If so, please feel free to bring a breakfast item to share, and note what you intend to bring.

Thanks!

The conversation was great. I especially like hearing what the individuals who have read the Affordable Care Act had to say.

Carol, there is a multitude of items that people are bringing from the list that Rick sent in email and listed below. I'm sure anything you bring will be more than appreciated.

And since the space is limited to 20 people with 19 signed up - I'd go from there. :) See you Saturday :)

Unfortunately, I have to miss this event. Would love to learn how the conversation went, though, since the issue of healthcare reform is of great interest to me.

I can bring juice or something along those lines. And I do like Scott's comments about Larry Summers. Maybe we can touch about this in our chat on Saturday.

I think the idea of a potluck is great! Are there enough outlets in the room for plugging in crockpots etc? I attend a "lunch" on Mondays where everyone brings something. We list it on the meetup site under that weeks notification. It works out nicely. Perhaps we can post a list of items needed - such as napkins, plates, plasticware. I'd be able to bring these "staples".

On the other hand, does the Library have wi-fi for public use?

    2 · July 27, 2013

    • Rick V.

I'll check with the library and post the answer.

Is the "library" where we were the first time I was at Whole Foods? I am a bit confused. Are we having a potluck? Maybe I missed it. Sorry, my Mom is not doing too well and have been traveling and not up on what is going on. I plan to attend though. Thanks. Constance

I know this isn't on the list of topic candidates, but I did start a discussion thread in the discussion section on Obama considering Larry Summers for Fed Chairman. Really? Seriously? Anyway, I give some valuable links and information about / against Larry Summers as a pick. I feel very strongly about this one.

Looking forward to it. Whole Foods was a friendly venue but that fan was always too noisy. Hoping the Library will be a successful meeting place for us. Thanks Rick!

Cathy asked about food and drinks in the library, so I thought I'd explain. Yes, it's a real library, and they have a separate room for meetings. I paid a $25 "damage" deposit, which I will get back, as long as we clean up everything. So.. I hope people will bring food and/or juice to share. I make and bring the coffee.. :-)

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
