Coffee, Tea, and Conversation

This will be our regular meeting, and if the first few are any indication, we are going to have another lively round of good open discussions and making some new friends.

We begin the group with with a round of introductions where everyone take 3-4 minutes to tell a little about themselves, and to address the topic of the day.  Once we've gone around the group, we shift gears, and open the floor for discussion.  This allows for a lot of good discussion, and everyone is free to participate as little or as much as they'd like.

I look forward to see you!

Also, to help defray the expenses of Meetup, and for the use of the library, we are asking for a nominal donation of $2.00.

We'll continue with the breakfast "potluck" as it worked out really well last week...  thanks to everyone!

I'll be bringing coffee to the library, and please feel free to bring a breakfast item to share, and note what you intend to bring.

Thanks!

I always appreciate the sharing of facts and opinions of our group. Such a nice variety of perspectives, even though we are all basically of like minds

Since I rarely watch local news but always watch sports, just wanted to mention that ESPN does that same thing with the "what's coming up" partial screen, to the left, a column. I like it. It let's me skip things I'm not interested in and come back for what I really care about. Or turn it off or flip to another channel.

Wonderful! Today was my first social encounter since moving into our Denver area home. I felt welcomed, comforted and inspired by the group. I can't begin to tell you all how important this event was to me! Thank you each for being you and making me feel so invited to be part of your group. It was terrific to have a great break from unpacking boxes and an opportunity to exercise my brain in my new home state. I loved learning about some of the local issues and voices.

It was good, as usual. Hardly talked. Working on my listening skills. Chatted with some people afterwards but really wanted to talk to Robert about Peter Boyles. Missed my chance. Hard for me to input my self into a group of 15 talkative liberals who are very knowledgeable and interesting. Not sure we need to have a topic of the week to focus on. Just a thought. People ramble on anyway and we tend to talk about what is interesting or topical, like Obamacare. I wouldn't have come this week if the topic weren't "The News". Didn't like the other choices. The discussion brought up other questions. Fact checking, for example. It's hard to get facts because both sides spin. I think the repubs have taken over google search. So many commercials on network tv, and on corporate cable, and they coordinate the commercials so you can't check on the enemy and see what they are saying. Are citizen journalists accurate or aren't they spinning too? Moreso than the AP?

Another good discussion, learned a lot, we strayed from the subject, but I thought that Obamacare was an appropriate topic to stray to, almost unavoidable. Looking forward to the next meeting.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
