Are you a member of the Libertarian Party? If not, which affiliation would best describe you?

I have never belonged to the Libertarian Party, but I’ve always voted for the Libertarian candidates and have often followed Party news. I do not belong to any party, and I no longer vote because "it only encourages the bastards."

Do you consider yourself politically active?

I am a student of the historical development of the idea of liberty. I am a voluntaryist, a classical liberal, a free-market individualist, and a "philosophical anarchist" like Thoreau, Spooner, Nock, Gandi and Tolkien. I have retired from activism.

How did you get interested in libertarianism?

I have been anti-authoritarian since First Grade in school. Loving my own freedom, I have always been sympathetic to the equal individual freedom of others. Ayn Rand’s writings introduced me to the wider world of libertarian theory.

Introduction

American expatriate. First time I voted, in 1972, I wrote in "Libertarian, John Hospers." Political influences: Chuang Tzu, Buddha, Aristotle, the Stoics, the Levelers, Locke, Jefferson, Paine, Spencer, Hayek, Ayn Rand, George H. Smith.
