Baseball Maple Leafs Home Opener at Christie Pits (Free Event)

Hi Everyone, On Sunday, May 4th let's take in a free baseball game together. Just in case you didn't know, there is another team called the Toronto Maple Leafs in town and it's our Inter County Baseball Leafs. I've been a baseball fan for over 50 years and these games played at Christie Pits are the purest form of the game that I've ever seen. Many players from this league have made their way to the Major Leagues afterwards. So the skill level of this league is pretty decent.

In past years at the Maple Leaf Home Opener they've brought out Major League Stars of yesteryear like Ferguson Jenkins, Juan Marichal, Gaylord Perry, Tony Oliva, Luis Tiant and many, many others. If you're a baseball fan then you'll know just how great these players were. Other sports figures have also shown up, and it's always been cool to rub shoulders with these big name stars.

Clockwise from top left, Luis Tiant, Tony Oliva, Ferguson Jenkins (Canadian) and Jim Bunning may be at the game!!!

Beginning at 12:00 noon let's begin to gather outside of the Christie Subway Station and at 12:30 PM we'll make our way over to the field at Christie Pits. It's actually right across the street from the subway station, so it's really accessible. The game begins at 2:00 PM.

We can either sit in the small stands right on field level or on the grass along the left or right field line. Anywhere we sit we will have a great view. You might want to bring a lawn chair or a small blanket to sit on. It's also a great family environment there. So if you have any family members or friends that want to join in, by all means, bring them along.

There's a concession stand there as well just in case you'd like some refreshments or bring your own. The Leafs also have draws for prizes. Some are prizes have been quite decent in the past. The tickets for these draws are quite inexpensive and you never know, you just might win something.

After the game, if anyone's interested we could always head over to Clinton's, a great local pub right in the area. This is a great opportunity for our friendly members to get together and have a great time without breaking the bank.

TTC - Simply take the Bloor Subway Line to Christie Station.

Parking - There's a lot of street parking in the area.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU THERE!!

Game and atmosphere was great, and easily accessible by TTC! What happened to the bar and grill, after the game??

I would've gone to the pub but I had to go home and sleep before working overnight. If I didn't have to work I'd be there, Sandy. Next time for sure.

Eric, I used to go there often a few ago. Was there for their last championship. Good ball and a decent afternoon or evening out.

This sounds like a fun event but I will be in Cuba. Maybe you could do another one later in the summer?
