Sunnyside & Humber Bay Park Walk (no meetup fee)

Hi Everyone, Get ready for one of our top walks of the year!! On Saturday, June 14th we will begin gathering at 11:00 behind the beautiful Sunnyside Pavilion Cafe' (beach side) located in Sunnyside Park between Parkside Drive and Colborne Lodge Drive. At 11:30 AM we will begin to walk westbound along the Sunnyside Boardwalk. Before long we will get to the White Bridge that crosses the Humber River. After that the route will be more on gravel and we will enter the beautiful Butterfly Habitat.

For those that want to go on from there the walk continues into Humber Bay Park. The terrain becomes a little rougher but this is where it gets more naturally beautiful with wild flowers and colourful birds and other wildlife. If you make it to the end you will get to see a fantastic view of the Toronto Skyline.

Afterwards we'll take the same route back to the Sunnyside Pavilion Café for refreshments, relaxation and further socializing. If we're lucky we'll be able to sit on their patio facing the beach. I'll do my best to arrange that for our group.

The (full) walk/hike will take close to 2 hours and we'll end up where we started. If you wish you can always turn around at the Bridge or the beginning of the Butterfly Habitat and we'll all meet back at the Sunnyside Pavilion Café. You can do whatever is comfortable. There are no rules.

***THIS JUST IN*** If the Sunnyside Pavilion Café is closed for renovations RONCY ROCKS will be our Plan B. It's not too far away and it looks like a lot of fun!! http://roncyrocks.com

This is a No Meetup Fee Event. All you have to pay for is your TTC fare or Parking and Refreshments.

TRANSIT - If you're coming from the Bloor-Danforth Subway, get off at Keele Station and take the #80 Bus south along Parkside Drive. Exit the bus just before or right after the bus turns on Lakeshore Blvd. For further TTC info call[masked]-INFO (4636) and dial O to speak with someone live.

PARKING - There are a few parking lots along the park near Lakeshore Blvd. and Parkside Dr.

DIRECTIONS - Since we're all coming from different directions I suggest going to www.mapquest.ca and clicking "Get Directions". Your destination address is 1755 Lakeshore Blvd. W. So come on out and enjoy a great day with us. All you really need to bring is your smile, sense of humour, and a positive attitude. A hat, sunglasses, sunblock, bottled water and decent walking shoes wouldn't hurt either. :)

WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU THERE!!

Really fantastic day! The lakeshore walk was so much fun and then ending up (l was pleasantly surprised) at the Roncy-Rocks festival was great. The group was ace and meeting some very fine people just topped it all off! Thanks so much Alex.

Thanks Alex for organizing such a great walk. The scenery is so beautiful and the day turned out to be perfect walking weather. I could have spent the entire day in one area. I hope to get back there again before the end of the summer. I was surprised it wasn't crowded. Sorry we got separated at the end.

Hi Alex - how long is the walk?

    June 12, 2014

    • Alex S.

This walk has different options. If just crossing the white bridge and then heading back to the meeting place, it's about an hour. Further to Humber Bay and back is closer to 2 hrs. If we head to Roncy Rocks then it's totally open ended.

Hi Alex , this is one of my favourite neighbourhood walks. Love sitting at the Sunnyside café ..... makes me feel like I'm in different country :-)
Unfortunately, it is closed for renovations.

    June 8, 2014

    • Alex S.

Well, if that's the case, then perhaps we could head over to Roncy Rocks on Roncesvalles. That's not too far away. http://roncyrocks.com Looks like that could be some fun!

Sorry I can't make that day.
