I've been thinking hard and long on this topic. So much has changed for me in the last 15-20 years and friendships have been a big part of that.
When I left sixth grade to go into Jr. High (1952!!), I wrote a thank you note to my sixth grade teacher telling her she was "The best teacher I ever had!". I was sad to be leaving grade school, but looking forward to Jr. High.
She replied with a lovely comment. I no longer have the note, but I've never forgotten the comment. She said . . ."friends are like pearls on a golden chain". I never forgot that and I think it helped me to make quality friends all my life.
I often thought of that quote when I found I was NOT making quality friends, but hanging with people who were not good for me and it helped me to make change in my life. Making a quality friendship takes time, effort and I have found it enriches me even beyond pearls and gold!!
So this topic will tell us how we've accomplished quality relationships, and each of us have certain ways of doing that. Some of us may have lost old friends, some of us may have had more friends than others, but we all can tell our stories of what it has been for us.
I look forward to seeing you there and know I will learn much from each of you.
