LCA Rides Again! We have repurposed LCA, and we are eager to get going with the new and improved version! This is a group exclusively for Sweetwater Camera Club members who are interested in gathering together once a month to learn and perfect off camera flash photography in various locations and under different ambient lighting conditions. We will meet the third Thursday of the month beginning at 6:30 p.m. and plan to go until no later than 9:00 - 9:30 p.m. The first session for the new and improved LCA will be on September 17, 2015. Location is to be determined, and we will update you on that as we get closer to the date.
Our members are all Sweetwater Camera Club members in good standing and range from beginner to experienced in both photography and lighting, and we look forward to learning from each other as we hone the craft of photography (specifically off camera flash photography) together. There is no set location for our gatherings. We will choose a location for each monthly session. We are open to both location and model suggestions for our meetings. Be advised that no minor under the age of 18 will be photographed at our sessions without the permission and presence of a parent and/or legal guardian for that minor.
We believe that, while strobes and studio equipment are awesome lighting tools that yield beautiful photographic results, simple lighting tools can also produce incredibly gorgeous portraits and photographs. We also believe that most of the photographers in our group are location photographers who want to keep things simple (and lightweight) while striving to create the best images they can. As such, this group will focus mainly on creating photographs using speedlights and lightstands, as well as umbrellas, softboxes and other light modifying tools.
There will be no charge to attend most sessions; however, if we incur model and/or makeup artist expense (or similar type expense) for a particular session, we will charge participants enough to cover the cost of that expense. It is not necessary for you to have your own speedlight, lightstand and modifier; however, your experience will be much more enjoyable and you will learn more by way of actual hands-on experience if you have at least one set.
If you would like some information regarding some low-cost, highly recommended off-brand equipment, please speak with either Mary Lesh or Judy Bruner.
Come join your Sweetwater Camera Club family as we have a blast with off camera flash. What we don't know, we will figure out together. We are really looking forward to this and hope you join us soon!
