Kanban Challenges Answered

We are scheduling the next Limited WIP Society Chapter Meet on Mar 8, Saturday, first half.

We are planning to hold this Conference at Amdocs office at Magarapatta. However, we are open to any suggestions about hosting this at a more central part of the town.

About the agenda, we want to keep it open. We want to hear the challenges from each one of you and then pick up a few to discuss and suggestion solutions in this session. We are aware of some challenges but it might be that you are facing some different challenges in your environment. So, pls share your challenges this week on this forum.

Enjoyed the 3rd meetup...the format for the brainstorming and the way we were led through it by Sudipta was in itself a learning experience

Challenge # 2 : In a multi vendor implementation, it won't be easy for the environment to be fully Agile and the different teams across vendors working together as one team for development. In this case, dependencies exist between these teams for deliverables for development as well as testing to proceed on each side. Just a simple ordering of cards is not enough. These are hard dependencies, sometimes with commercial commitments/penalties and need to be adhered strictly. Is Kanban relevant in such a project environment as well ?

Challenge # 1 : Some projects are fixed scope, fixed budget and and relatively small duration - 3-4 months. In that case, would it make more sense to go for a) Pure Critical chain or Microsoft project plan based date based approach b) Combination approach : Critical chain based planning followed by Kanban execution. c) Pure Kanban flow based execution approach with no date based plan for individual stories.
