Hello! My name is Sherry Shrallow and I have come to learn about the benefits of a whole foods oil free plant-based way of eating after having had a heart attack at age 56 that nearly took my life. I was of normal weight, ate what I thought was a heart healthy diet and exercised daily. Yet it still happened to me. Because of this life changing event I embarked on a new way of eating with no animal products or processed oils in my diet based on the work of Cleveland Clinic physician Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn who wrote Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease. I also received my certificate in plant-based nutrition from e-Cornell University and the T. Colin Campbell Foundation. I will be cooking with organic foods (whenever possible) and look forward to teaching you how to make some tasty plant-based meals that we will share together at the end of class. There will be a $10 fee to cover the cost of the food. Looking forward to meeting others who are committed to living the healthiest lifestyle possible. Limit of 15 per class.

It was so nice to meet everyone and to share ideas together. Who would have thought that you could put cayenne pepper in your mango sorbet and add that extra kick that was amazing! Thanks Harv for your great suggestion. I'll be posting our next gathering date soon- we'll be cooking Mediterranean food that I promise will be tasty- and all without using oil! Thanks to Julia as well for letting us know about a way to get fresh organic produce at a reasonable cost through Sandhill Family Farms. Check out her link today that she posted.- I'm signing up.

What a wonderful gathering. Sherry, you truly have a warm way of including everyone, (a really nice group!) as we all had a chance for hands -on learning, demo-watching, and of course the taste-test. Your finale of the mango sherbet was a hit, topped with Harv's cayenne suggestion!
Thank you to both you and Dale for an enjoyable afternoon in your home. Looking forward to next meetup.

We enjoyed meeting everyone. Thanks Sherry. As I mentioned in the meetup, we order organic farm shares from Sandhill Family Farms. The website is www.sandhillfamilydfarms.com. We highly recommend.

I'm looking at the weather. I'll try to be there on time but my arrival depends upon my husband's return home for our dog's benefit. (We came home to a bloodbath yesterday as the storm was going on-she has demons that render her to a crazed zone and she hurts herself trying to escape). Gosh, I hope to be able to make it!

I ordered my book on Amazon Ellen. You can also look for Dr. Barnard's review of his book by googling him and watching a 75 minute video. Well worth it if you are short on time and want to get the gist of his work.

I'm so sorry I can't make it now...I have a conflict with a family event. I've opened up a spot for someone. :) And, I definitely want to come to the next one. Thank you for doing this, Sherry!

Hello Everyone! I am so pleased to see that we have a good sized group forming and only wish that I could accommodate more than 15 people at the Cooking Classes. If I see that there is a wait list large enough for a second class I will see what I can do to schedule it so that everyone interested in this months Asian cooking has a chance to experience it. In the meantime, keep checking the wait list if you are on it to see if a space opens up.
    Have a wonderful day!
    Sherry

If you have the time, please read Power Foods for the Brain by Dr. Neal Barnard. We'll be talking about how eating plant-based foods may help prevent Alzheimer's disease based on some of the current research on this topic.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
