Let's have a fun stewardship hike in Linville Gorge Wilderness!

We'll hike down the Pinch In Trail and then follow the Linville Gorge River Trail upstream. We'll take Conley Cove Trail back up and out of the Gorge. This will be close to a seven mile hike, mostly downhill or level, until the last mile and a half, where we hike up out of the Gorge. We'll park cars at both trail heads and this will be a shuttle hike. Along the hike we will stop occasionally to remove highly invasive plants such as Mulitiflora Rose, Paulownia (Princess Tree), and Silvergrass. I'll bring tools and offer any needed training. You come ready for a beautiful hike and to dig or saw a little! Be sure to bring 2 - 3 liters of water, plenty of food for yourself, rain gear and good hiking boots.

Are there any tools I need to bring tomorrow? My first time for trail maintenance and looking forward to it.

We'll bring a good variety of tools. If you have some work gloves, bring those, although we have a few pairs to share.

Hi all. I was in Linville all day today and will be again tomorrow. Spring is happening in full force and it is so beautiful! I will plan to meet you at 9:45 at the Conley Cove trail head on Sunday. If you have any questions before then, send me a message here, and expect a reply after dark.

With last nights rain and all that we are still expecting, it is going to be pretty great down by the Linville River on Sunday! We'll plan to meet at 9:45 at the Conley Cove Trailhead on Sunday morning, leave a car or two there, and then drive down to the Pinch In Trailhead. Please let me know if you are still planning to come, or if you have decided not to. Also, be sure to check this page early Sunday morning for any last minute notices.

Should be fun. And I'll be able to ID the dreaded Princess Tree for sure now! (A small one was growing on top of Babel Tower, I think.)
