Come explore the fascinating world of food and the delicate balance between our planet and our plates at an adults-only night of fun and learning at Chicago's own Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, located right in Lincoln Park near the zoo.
The Nature on Tap party gives us grown-ups a chance to play sans kiddies at the Nature Museum after hours. Meet your fellow foodies and grab a cocktail at the cash bar. Then discover the museum's newest exhibit, Food: The Nature of Eating, a self-curated and interactive journey connecting us to the sources of our food and our impact on the land and water we harvest from.
Wander the rest of the museum if you like, including the beautiful Butterfly Haven, where you'll learn the importance of these delicate creatures to our environment. Roll up your sleeves and let your creativity flow at the crafty project tables -- why should kids have all the fun? Amaze your friends with your science and nature trivia knowledge and help Litereati bring home the coveted Golden Cockroach trophy!
The event is free for members of the museum (a good impetus to join, yes?) and just $10 for non-members. Bring some cash for cocktails at the bar and for browsing at the gift shop. Bring as many friends as you like, and be sure to take lots of pictures -- we'll want to share them here, on facebook and Twitter (@Litereati), and on our blog at www.litereati.com. Special thanks to Litereati member Sangeeta for suggesting and co-hosting this incredible event! Please come find us when you arrive (we'll be wearing nametags), and text me (don't call) at (773)[masked] if you need help locating the group.
For more information about the museum, including parking and accessibility information and a cool calendar of events, go to http://www.naturemuseum.org/plan-a-visit. As always, please email me your questions, comments an suggestions for future meetups. (Thanks, Sangeeta, for this one -- I'm really looking forward to it!)
