What do you hope to get from this Meetup?

I want a place where I can journey with others, witness the telling of their journeys, and share my own journeys. If there are those with more experience, I am always open to feedback and suggestions. I am looking for a place to experiment with my body position while journeying and to have drums and/or rattles to facilitate the journey process.

What is your spiritual orientation/interest?

I am interested in spiritual healing, exploration, and relationship. By spiritual healing I mean healing the suffering of others both in journey space and learning techniques in journeys to heal others in ordinary reality. By exploration I mean I love the simple experience of journeying; I have always had a bit of wanderlust and journeying fulfills that need when I cannot wander in this reality. And by relationship I mean I enjoy forming bonds with spirits and would like to learn to form bonds with the spirits of the land; I have a deep interest in the elements and would like to learn to work with elementals and nature spirits.

Why do you crave ceremony?

Ceremony allows me to have a space where I can feel truly sacred, like I am so much more than my flesh. Ceremony allows me to engage with others who share a similar passion for spiritual engagement and growth. Like when I used to practice martial arts, ceremony is a place where I can check all my emotions and thoughts at the door and engage in a practice with others who are like-minded and there for a similar purpose. I crave community, something that I have not found since I left my home in the Midwest two years ago.

What kind of ceremony are you looking for?

I'm not really sure. All I want is a space that is safe and supportive; otherwise I am open to experiencing the different styles of ceremony that leaders have to offer.

I learned to journey in an apprentice-style format with 3 friends from an herbal teacher at my previous graduate school. I primarily sought out shamanic practice as a way to heal from psychological trauma and work with my own intense energy.
