Meetings will include sharing of both what works and what impairs individual members. Open forum discussion is essential and the need to make any decisions will be by consensus; sub groups may develop within a project goal setting process, but everyone has equal input and participation expectations will be with respect to individual integrity and preservation of energy status. Each meeting must include a group play component, such as finger painting or painted-hand stamping of tee shirts.
Years ago there was a Hands Across America grass roots phenomenon which accomplished a massive coalition in rekindling faith in the American potential for camaraderie, participation and respect. We can provide all this and more by the follow-up meetings which SEED our creative skills in a manner we can reach one goal at a time, no matter how small each step may be.
One goal is each member will learn to realize their own personal limitations in order to prevent depleting their precious energy resources. A silent presence at a gathering can provide as much individual insight and personal growth at times; I have learned this process in my RN Hospice work.
Another goal is to document overall group process in an informal manner, so we can pass-on success as well as failures. One fun and easy way to document is those cheap instant cameras, so any Ahaaaaaa moments can be captured and shared. Sounds like scrapbook material to me, and I know some people love to do that.
I am one of the old 60’s tie-dye Hippies and one trait that is carried along the life lessons from that life style is, things can still be fun. This is such a precious gift we can continue to give to one another. Remember, some of the wisest things we learn in life come at the least expected moments from people we have never met. Optimism and Hope go hand in hand when we are able to keep our hearts open to learning and fun. The Universe never stops providing opportunities to learn and grow.
I am very excited about meeting others with my problem. CFS is so difficult to explain to others.
My home is tiny, but there is a little lake and an open space with trails. I have a canoe and kayak for use. I may be able to talk my neighbors into borrowing their paddle boats as well. There is so much we can do that will lift our spirits without draining our energy. If we do art projects, everyone receives first place. If we take a few hours to do a random act of kindness for strangers waiting for the train, everyone gains a moment of peace and gratitude. Being happy is a conscious decision. (Eleanor Roosevelt???)
