Giddyup! Let's Ride Out To Greasewood Flat and Have Some FUN!

Whether this is a Virgin Experience or you've been here before, Greasewood Flat is a fun and kitschy place that began 130 years ago as a bunkhouse on a huge sprawling ranch. It can best be described as an outdoor cowboy burger picnic for adults. This is one of a few places you can see BMW convertibles, Harleys and horses tied to hitching posts all in the same parking lot. The atmosphere is great for just sitting, listening to music, watching people, hearing birds chirp, donkeys braying, trees swaying. Let's get out here by 4 pm so we can beat the crowd, get some tables, and enjoy the ambiance and the sunset. of our members might have a FUN SURPRISE for us early birds, too!

There's an indoor bar where dollar bills are stapled to the ceiling and burgers are constantly being served, and there's the huge outdoor area, where a country band plays the classics, and an eclectic crowd made up of bikers, golfers, tourists and locals occupy picnic tables and huddle around fire pits eating grub and drinking. The atmosphere encourages meeting the people next to you, so by the end of the night everyone has new friends. This event is being combined with another Meetup Group, so plan on meeting lots of folks and having a grand time!

Remember to bring a dollar bill or a business card to staple to the ceiling and add it to the 10,000 dollars already stapled there! Gee...I wonder if I can find the one I stapled there in the 80'

Its more the atmosphere that makes this place cool and very fun. There's lots of cool old machines, antiques, and "junk" to look at, horseshoes, and pens of peacocks and chickens, a few donkeys, and a welcome sign that reads "Sorry, we're open!"

The menu is very simple and has both rave and bad reviews. After dinner, we can buy packages of their marshmallows and goodies to make S'Mores over the fires!  And did I mention you can do that with a beer in hand?  *** BE AWARE that DRINKS are CASH ONLY! Food may be paid for with a credit card, but why not make it easy and just pay cash for it all? NO waitstaff! Ordering food is a separate line from ordering drinks...and the wait can be considerable, so it's a perfect opportunity to people watch and have fun! Please view the menu selection here:

Where else can you brush shoulders with red necks, white collared workaholics, cowboys and bikers in Scottsdale?  This is it.  This is the melting pot of Scottsdale,  where the past meets the present.

So put on your leathers, your bike gear, or your cowboy boots, hat & belt, and get ready to pull up a picnic table bench seat & have fun with our Meetup groups and meet new friends!

Greasewood Flat is located just behind Reata Pass steak house and there's a sign on a dirt road just off Alma School Road on the East side, just across from the Four Seasons Hotel entrance. On your way home, you'll get one of the most scenic views of the Valley's lights you'll ever witness. Simply gorgeous! But be careful to also keep your eyes on the road, too!

Plan to eat outside and wait a while for your food. Bar is cash only, but main meal can be purchased with credit/debit.

• Don't curse out loud while inside at the bar, or you might get kicked out (seriously)!

• you cannot bring any food in/out, and you cannot take any drinks out.  Not even your soda can.  The big burly bouncer guy will take you down!

CAUTION: Do not wear open toe shoes .... boots are best ..... and it does get about 10 degrees cooler here being slightly elevated so you might bring a jacket. It is very dusty but that is part of the fun! : ) If you don't mind eating outside at a picnic table, smelling like campfire and waiting an eternity for your food, then this iconic southwest place is for of the last bastions of Old West Scottsdale!

>> Oh, and you might want to bring a small FLASHLIGHT for after dark, as the parking lot is completely unlit.

Come on now...get yer boots on and let's giddyup!

This will be a joinup group Scottdale 50+ so look for them.

Another unique experience for social interaction. Lots of historical things to look at, great beers on tap, and all sorts of people to meet and talk to. Musician was very good, but crowd was not into dancing. Maybe next time. Thanks to our intrepid leader, Kaz, for meeting us as soon as we entered and introducing us all around.
FYI, if, at any of the Meetups you feel lost or can't find your group, just wing it and have a good time by yourself. We have all had this experience but we are all grown up and can handle it! Cheers,

The weather was PERFECT, the ambiance was "cool", the music grand, and the people (our 2 Meetup groups) were FANTASTIC! Many seemed to circulate well and meet new folks and had a great time chatting, and a couple of us shook our boots on the dance floor! Definitely watch for future outings there! And check out the photos!

This was fun despite the life threatening plague of dancing.

For new people, web pg has many paragraphs & pics, it's very hard to see little Grey print at top about "Find Yellow Balloon". Especially if looking on cell ph screen! I mentioned that to other organizers before.

Are you viewing this from a smartphone, or your computer?
    1. Look at the top title
    2. Look at the next line, the date
    3. Look directly under the date - the instructions of how to find us are there!

If you've never been to a Meetup event, and you had to ask how to find us when it was written at the top of the page, you may or may not be successful in finding us! I'm being VERY realistic!

Plan on going and enjoying whatever happens - make it a point to say hello to 5 people, whether in our group or not, and you will most likely have a good time!

Did you read the rest of the page? Be AWARE that it is most likely dusty and smokey, and not conducive to heels or fine church clothing, and seating is at OUTDOOR picnic tables!

Regard this as the ADVENTURE out of the normal comfort zone that it is, and it will be a blast!

Good idea! My suggestions: tell the general area/cross streets of your location; email individual people via their email link on their profile page - top left. Be aware that any phone numbers/info listed in comments will be viewed by ANYONE in the world who happens to open this accessible webpage!

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
